The penultimate spins for 2019 availed of calm dry weather and all groups got out for steady winter miles
Here are the notes and poems from the road ...πŸ˜‰

Group 3 were back together on Sunday, following the exhortations of captain Anthony many of the prodigal children dusted down the bikes and came back out on the road. Anthony had decided on an easy spin for the morning so as not to put too much pressure on the tender areas of those returning. Eleven headed out the bog road on a cold but dry morning travelling via Kilmolash towards Cappoquin. Ballyduff was reached quite quickly and before we knew it we were on the road home looking forward to our Christmas stop at Forde's Daybreak for coffee and Carol's birthday celebration. When we dismounted at Fordes those that had to cycle behind colleagues without mudguards looked like they needed a run through the car wash before going in, while the others were still sparkling clean. It was a very enjoyable 70k spin at 27.5kph and hopefully all those returning to the Group 3 fold will keep it up for the new year. Happy Christmas to allπŸŽ…πŸŽ„β›„

G4:It was "Take 2" for the last Group 4 spin before Christmas travelling the same route that was abandoned last week due to the inclement weather. 10 of us headed out to Cappoquin dealing quickly with a mechanical issue along the way. Turning left at Richmond house the back roads around Kilmolash were wet, mucky and rough in places. We then headed to Clashmore through small pockets of fog and onto Kinsalebeg to try out a new coffee stop. Thanks to Teresa at TJ's Country Kitchen & Store for her hospitality and offer of re-fills - we'll definitely be back. Back on the bikes it was onwards through Piltown, across by Ardmore graveyard, Old Parish, Robert's cross and back the N25 to Dungarvan. A very enjoyable pre-Christmas spin of 73Km. A very happy Christmas to all in Group 4 and from Group 4. Safe cycling into 2020!

DCC on a cold and frosty morning⛄❄️πŸ₯Ά

Winter has well and truly arrived and impacted big time on weekend activities. The annual Lions club Charity cycle took place on Sunday but numbers were well down due to icy weather. Kudos to those that braved the elements. The group were addressed by the Lions Club president before the collection and the groups rolled out for short spins, though some were shorter than others πŸ˜€

G23k: The Sunday spin started with the group gathering for the Annual DCC Lions club collection at the Civic offices. Advice from a fellow cyclist about road conditions prompted the decision to keep to the main road to Lismore. As the group left Dungarvan dark clouds loomed over us and a heavy shower of rain made us decide to call the cycle short and head back into town stopping at Forde's garage (our main sponsor) for the weekly coffee stop. Refueled the group headed for the comfort of home.

G5. As G5 were heading out on their spin this morning the rain started so they decided to return to the Dungarvan Hostel for coffee instead. They enjoyed the coffee and welcomed Alice to the group.

Group 4 gathered at the Civic Offices in Dungarvan on a bitterly cold December morning to support the DCC annual collection for the Lions club. After the photo the group headed towards Cappoquin as planned. A heavy shower made it tough going and some bailed out early wet and cold. Four of the group continued with little reprieve from the rain and sleet the turn at Richmond house for Kilmolash became the turn for home. A short spin with the weather dominating but everybody home safely to thaw out and warm up.
