Bob Troy Summer Series Week 2

Week 2 was bathed in beautiful sunshine after a gloomy enough day. A northerly wind wasn't much help in either direction but that didn't stop 35 riders at the start line with 6 new sign ons joining us this week. The time between riders was reduced to 1 min and the lineup was divided more evenly so it made it all the more competitive for everyone!

No change in any of the leader- boards this week where the competition is fierce in all catagories. Owen Morrissey debuted in the u12s and had a great ride in the youth section. Mark McGarry retained his lead in the A3 category while Alan Lyons knocked a good chunk off last week's time.
The ladies all performed well with Andrea Lyons having a great spin for her maiden voyage with the club.
Alan Gibson improved from last week and is still top of the A4 bunch with Ian Holland and Michael Morrissey also improving on last week.
In the limited competition numbers swelled to 10, fantastic racing by Pádraig de Búrca and well done to Richie, Dónal and Tomás on taking the plunge! All enjoyed and already looking forward to next week.

Sean Dwyer and Kieran Cahill battled well and only 4 seconds separated them in the finish. Both Aidan Connell and Conor Coleman had blistering rides in their respective A1 and A2 catagories.
Kudos to all our participants for supporting on any of the nights and its never too late to join🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

Our summer series kindly sponsored by Bob Troy & Co got off to a flying start on Thursday evening. This year we were not allowed to run a race series due to Covid 19 restrictions so a series of Time Trials were permitted under Cycling Ireland rules. Limited to DCC members only we are very pleased to report it was very well received and supported.

A fine evening with a moderate westerly wind 35 riders arrived at their designated start times and the competitors were under starters orders.

Fastest on the night and riding in the A2 catagory was Conor Coleman in a lightning fast time of 29:44 followed by Mark McGarry riding in the A3/Juniors category in 30:03. Aidan Connell is recovered from a nasty accident last year and was 3rd fastest in 30:12 and fastest in the A1 catagory. David Gaffney was first of our youths home in 33:08 while Elia Tutty flew the ladies flag finishing in 35:37.
Alan Gibson put in a great performance in the A4 group, while Éamon Phelan headed up the limited competition group. Sean Dwyer pipped Damien Travers in the LC racer group. But it is early days with 4 nights to go, 2 more time trials, a predict your time, and a hill climb so the leader boards will surely change in the coming weeks.

We send our best wishes to Liam Moore who had an unfortunate accident on the night and hope he heals well.

Huge thanks to race directors Darren & Jason, our IT coordinator Michael, timekeepers Frank & Nora, photographer John, first aider Eoin, Ann on registration, Marshalls, motorbikers, stewards and chief whip Mike.
We can't wait to do it all again next week
Registration is now open to all DCC members, competition licence required and its never to late to join!
